This piece represents the heaven and the awe that they invoke. Stars, space and the night time that reveals them to us are a time to be together with whanau. This pounamu symoblises the special people in our lives, as well as those that have passed and may be watching down on us now as stars themselves.
This pounamu links with page 26 and 27 of the book with the words, “A bonfire we light shoots sparks through the night. Marshmallows are browned on sticks that we found.”
